The Hurdles on the Road of Faith!
On the road of this journey called faith, we will encounter many hurdles which we need to overcome. The way we handle ourselves every time we encounter these hurdles could either make or break us as Christians. The way we handle ourselves each time we are confronted by the hurdles on the road determine if we will be mature of if we will remain crybabies unable to handle the meat of God’s revelation for our lives today.
I’ve had moments when I’ve felt that I was soaring like an eagle in my faith and I’ve also come across those depressing moments when I’ve doubted everything God has told me. I’ve had those moments when I foolishly questioned God and was so angry with my Master that instead of worshipping; my only prayer seemed to be complaints to the only sinless One, and the only One who is Faithful and True. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 24:16 “For a righteous man may fall seven times and rise again…” So these hurdles on the road of faith are obstacles which are supposed to make us stronger each time we are confronted by them and we are victorious. No obstacle is placed before you by God, but in order for you to rise to new levels of faith and in order for you to move into a new dimension, your faith must be tested. (See James 1:2-4; 1 Corinthians 10:13)
I often get upset at God for His moments of silence, but He keeps quiet not only because He loves us, but because it is necessary for us to grow. If God has spoken to us, as He has done with me over the past year in which almost every blessed day He had something to say to my family and I, long conversations about future events, about who we are in Him etc. then a time comes when He must keep quiet and let us just believe that He will do what He has said because He has proven Himself to us as God by declaring the end from the beginning (See Isaiah 46:9-10). I cannot say I fully appreciate the silences of God, and that’s why sometimes I become angry and complain about the situation before me which appears to me like God is taking too long to fulfill His promises. This is because I easily forget every other time God has come through for me, forgetting every other time God has said an event will occur at a certain time and without me even remembering the promise, as He declared it so it happened. I quickly forget the good and try to point out those things I have not yet accomplished, but this is not the way of faith.
Dear friends, I understand that sometimes we are truly depressed because the devil seems to have taken a special interest in us and we just seem to flow with the thoughts of hell, but don’t allow anything to make you doubt God, don’t allow anything to cause you to complain. Don’t look at what you don’t have as I have done on many occasions, rather look at what you do have and thank God in anticipation for all He has promised you because if He has said it, then be rest assured of this fact that His word will not return to Him void, but it will accomplish the purpose to which it has been sent, why? Because God is not a man that He should lie, nor a son of man that He should repent; has he said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? Remember, He is watching over His word to perform it in its right time. His word is living and active and His angels who are mighty in strength perform His word, obeying the voice of His word. (See Isaiah 55:11; Numbers 23:19; Jeremiah 1:12; Hebrews 4:12; Psalms 103:20)
So if you feel depressed due to a situation or circumstance I want you to know first of all that depression is not of God, but it’s a dark cloud of hell which is hovering over you and it needs to go. You need to bind and rebuke that evil spirit to leave you in Jesus name, because as a child of God you are the temple of God where life should be flowing through, not death, which is the spirit of depression. Secondly, remember each time God has been faithful to you and arise in faith knowing that if He was faithful yesterday, today He will also be faithful. I know that this is difficult especially if you have an area of your life which seems to be a special stronghold, but it’s not impossible for God. Commit it to Him, and command that area of your life to be brought into subjection of the authority of Christ. Thirdly, fast and pray if you need to, it’s important.
Remember that the hurdles on this road of faith are not there to kill you or weaken you, but to make you stronger. They are there to cause you to become stronger after passing through each situation, and if you fall, don’t stay down, GET UP and keep going. If the Bible assures us that in this life we will have troubles, then depression is not far off on the road of faith. However, just like the Proverb above says, as a righteous man or woman, if you fall, you must get up, you must rise again, you may fall seven times and rise again, it is your destiny, you may come across moments of depression and times when nothing seems to go the way you want, moments of great anger even against God, but you must rise again. So as you stumble on those hurdles, don’t quit the race simply because you stumbled and fell NO get up and keep going, keep running. Like Joyce Meyer says, “the mature person is not the one who says I will never fall, but the one who rises after falling and keeps running.”
So to all you depressed and fallen soldiers I say to you today arise, arise in the strength of the Lord, arise and cry no more, look upon your situation no longer for the Lord is coming with healing in His wings and every uncircumcised Philistine giant standing before you must die. So in Jesus name, I speak to those giants and I say die, and be gone forever. I order sickness and depression to leave in Jesus name, I order the hands of witches and demons off your life now in Jesus name. You dark cloud of hell I order you to be dispelled right now by the Glory light of God which has arisen right now over my brother or sister in Christ. I decree that the kingdom of God is now your standard as a child of God from now on. Be strong get up and keep running man and woman of faith. It is well with you in Jesus name. Amen!
I pray that this song below taken from Numbers 6:24-26 which says, “The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace” be your portion in Jesus name. Amen!
